Behind-the-Scenes with Cool

As our first full month comes to a close, I thought I’d give you a Behind-The-Scenes look at our PhillyIn In-Focus photo shoot with the Cool Kids.

“I’ve never seen Strongbox this empty” is my first thought as I open the door. It’s 2 p.m. and I’m lugging bags into the club. Carlton, the strong but soft-spoken owner, greets me as he quietly sweeps the floor. He was kind enough to open the club for us in the middle of the day. “What is this for again?” he asks. I can’t help but laugh and think to myself how amazing it is to know people that trust you enough to agree to let you do something, before really understanding what you’re really doing at all. Thank you again to Carlton and Strongbox for your hospitality.

We were on a tight schedule: two “Kids”, two looks each, solo and duo shoots, as well as video footage and only two hours to get it all done! Luckily for us – Steve Boyle is the man!

After Jacky finished his first round of solo shots, Reggie stepped up to the plate, “This should be much easier, I’m MUCH more attractive…” he smirked.

The Cool Kids aren’t shy, so it doesn’t take much for Steve and I to get them out of their shell. “Can we get some music?” is our photographer’s only request. “Ummm…..this IS a club….music should be easy.” I looked at the owner, Carlton, who laughed and admitted to not having a clue how to work the system. So, I crawled up the ladder of the DJ booth to try and figure it out for myself. Man, that’s a lot of equpiment up there! Now, I consider myself a smart girl (3.98 GPA, thank you very much!), but after fiddingly with every button I could find, I still couldn’t get the music going. Note to self: Hire DJ for next photoshoot!”

“Let’s try some with the guys on their Blackberry’s.” I suggest. “This is probably the most realistic picture ever taken.” Jacky jokes while looking suspisciously like he is, INDEED, actually tweeting during the shoot. The Cool Kids are serious #Twitterholics
